Why Are DUI Checkpoints Conducted?

DUI checkpoints are designed to improve public safety by identifying impaired drivers before they cause crashes. Research has shown that highly visible enforcement efforts can discourage impaired driving and help reduce alcohol-related traffic fatalities.

The primary goals include:

  • Reducing impaired driving crashes
  • Protecting pedestrians and motorists
  • Encouraging responsible driving
  • Increasing awareness of DUI laws
  • Improving roadway safety

Plan a Safe Ride Home

If you expect to consume alcohol or any substance that could impair your ability to drive:

  • Use Uber or Lyft.
  • Choose a designated driver.
  • Take a taxi or public transportation.
  • Stay overnight if necessary.
  • Never drive while impaired.

Making a safe transportation plan before going out can save lives.
