The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has announced DUI checkpoint locations across the state for July 2026. These checkpoints are part of ongoing traffic safety efforts designed to reduce impaired driving, encourage responsible decisions behind the wheel, and help keep Tennessee roads safe for everyone.

Throughout the month, drivers may encounter sobriety checkpoints in multiple counties across all eight Tennessee Highway Patrol districts. These enforcement operations are conducted to identify impaired drivers, improve roadway safety, and remind motorists about the importance of driving responsibly.

Why Are DUI Checkpoints Conducted?

DUI checkpoints are an important public safety tool used by law enforcement agencies throughout Tennessee. Their primary goals include:

  • Reducing impaired driving crashes.
  • Preventing injuries and traffic fatalities.
  • Encouraging drivers to make safe transportation choices.
  • Promoting compliance with Tennessee traffic laws.
  • Increasing awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence.

The presence of DUI checkpoints also serves as a reminder that safe driving protects not only the driver but also passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and everyone sharing the road.
